Donington Park British Supersport: Ten Kate Honda dominate opening day

The World Supersport pairing of Andrew Pitt and Jonathan Rea have topped the time sheets on the first day of practice at Donington Park for round four of the British Supersport championship.

The Ten Kate boys have been joined by fellow World Supersport outfit Parkalgar Honda with Brit Craig Jones as wildcards this weekend, using the race weekend as a ‘test’ for their Supersport campaign.

And it was the two Ten Kate riders who enjoyed the fastest times in Free Practice, ending FP2 with Pitt setting the fastest lap of 1.33.983, sixth tenths ahead of his Irish team-mate Jonathan Rea in second.

British Supersport regulars Ian Lowry on the Relentless Suzuki and Glen Richards with MAP Embassy Triumph, split the World Supersport men, putting Jones back into sixth.

Jonathan Rea didn’t have such a dream start to his British Superbike comeback, crashing on lap three of the first practice session but walking away unscathed.

The British Supersport riders face two qualifying sessions tomorrow, with the second taking place at 15.10.
