Brands Hatch British Superbikes: Shane Byrne wants to sign off with win

The 2008 British Superbike Champion, Shane Byrne, has said he’s looking to get back on to the top step of the podium for the first time in the second half of the season before departing for WSB.

The Airwaves Ducati rider took the title at the last round at Silverstone in the same weekend he confirmed he’d be riding for Sterilgarda Ducati in the World Championship in ’09.

Byrne hasn’t taken a win for eleven races after a spell of eight wins in the first eleven races of the season.

But with Brands Hatch being his favourite circuit and a track he’s taken WSB wildcard victories at, he’s looking to add to that tally this weekend for a final send off.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have taken the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone for Airwaves Ducati and GSE Racing,” Byrne said.

“Now I can’t wait to go to Brands Hatch, GSE Racing’s home circuit, and go out there and enjoy myself knowing that the Championship is mine.

“I’m going to be pushing 100% to get back onto the top step of the podium and hopefully sign the season off in style!”
