Croft British Superbikes: Tom Sykes desperate to impress at home round

1 of 1

Tom Sykes set the fastest time of Free Practice 2  on the first day at Croft British Superbikes despite crashing out of the first session in the morning.

Sykes crashed at the fast Tower corner but escaped unscathed.

The Rizla Suzuki afternoon lap took him to the third fastest time of the whole day with a 1.21.105, just over a tenth off the time set by Shane Byrne in FP1.

Sykes said: “Today has been a fairly steady start to the weekend; I did enough laps to get a feel for the place and to start work on dialing in my Rizla Suzuki.

“I had a small tip off this morning but it was nothing serious, I just tucked the front end at Tower corner.

“We have a good direction to go in and I know my team will give me the bike I need to do the job this weekend just as they have done before.

“I’m really up for it as this is my home round and I’ve a lot of family and friends coming along.”
