Croft British Superbikes: Karl Harris miffed by poor performance

Rob Mac Racing Yamaha front man Karl Harris admitted even he couldn’t put his finger on why he struggled at Croft this weekend for the tenth round of the BSB Championship.

Harris scored a brace of eighth place finishes at a circuit that’s been pretty good to him in the past.

“Well that’s not the best weekend we’ve had and I can’t pinpoint a definite reason for it,” said a confused Harris.

“I seemed to lose pace in the last sector of the lap.

“I felt really strong on the first two thirds of the lap but just felt not so strong on the last sector.

“I couldn’t seem to make progress from where I was, it is such a hot pace out there anyway.

“I really enjoy both Silverstone and Brands so I hope for a strong finish to the season with four races to go.”

Team boss Rob Mac did have one thing to cheer about at the weekend though – partner Susan gave birth to a little boy on the Thursday evening and the former GP rider couldn’t hide his joy.

“It’s been a mixed weekend of emotions for me; we’ve not had the results that we expect from the Superbike this weekend.

“We’ve got four races to go to prove our capabilities so the pressure is on.

‘Susan gave birth to our son, Harrison Robert on Thursday night so it’s been an amazing high for us in that respect and I’m definitely the proud father again!”
