Two-man MV Agusta team in BSB

There may not be any Ducatis in this year’s British Superbike championship but at least there will be two Italian bikes.

The STP Motorsport team will field a two-man MV Agusta team in British Superbike this year for Chris Burns and Victor Cox.

The team has also entered into a partnership with James Holland of the Bristol-based turning company JHS Racing, who will be managing the development and preparation of the MV Agusta F4 1000.

STP Team principal Jon Strike said: “The race bikes have already been subjected to detailed inspection by JHS and they have identified a number of areas that will improve performance and reliability.

“The target now is to get everything in place in order that we can start testing as soon as possible.”

The partnership with JHS Racing has given a double boost to the team: “Having a partner on board like JHS will free up cash that would have been spent on engine development and testing,” said Strike.

“Hopefully, this will be of benefit in our on-going search for a title partner for the team next season as the financial demands are reduced.

“Even in the current economic climate, I am convinced that the benefits of being involved with a brand as famous as MV Agusta and the marketing opportunities it presents, make sound economic sense.”
