Pekkanen to race Suzuki in BSB Evo

Finn Pauli Pekkanen is the latest rider to announce his plans to race in the BSB Evo class.

He’s aiming to run his own Suzuki in the championship that now boasts nine starters with other teams on the verge on announcing their plans.

Pekkanen finished runner-up in last year’s one-make KTM RC8 Super Cup series and has a range of experience having competed in the European Superstock Championship in addition to battling previously for the Finish Supersport Championship title.

He is now eager to get testing at the start of next month in preparation for the new season and is under no illusions about the challenge ahead.

Pekkanen said: “It is an exciting time for me as this season I will be riding a new bike, in a new championship so this is a big challenge for me personally.

“The Suzuki will feel so much different to the KTM I rode last season, but I think it will be a good progression for me and we have some pre-season testing planned so we will have got to grips with the bike before the opening round.

“I had been assessing my options for this season but to race in BSB Evo is definitely the better career path for me, and to be part of the championship will give me more exposure and I will learn more from the experience.”
