Steve Brogan and Howie Mainwaring will be spearheading the Buildbase BMW assault on the National Superstock 1000 championship this year.

Steve Brogan, 31, from Liverpool, won the first ever BSB-EVO title in 2010 for BMW Motorrad. Brogan also won the 2008 Superstock 1000 title and came second in 2009.

A fan favourite, Brogan will bring a wealth of experience gained in the Superstock, EVO and BSB championships to the Buildbase BMW Motorrad team.

Howie Mainwaring, 24, from Frodsham, is a hard-charging rider who finished fifth in the 2011 Superstock 1000 Championship, including an impressive race win at Brands Hatch.

Howie’s enthusiasm and energy will help drive him and his team-mate Brogan to deliver their best possible performances.

The BMW S 1000 RR has taken the world of superstock racing by storm, taking two consecutive Metzeler National Superstock 1000 titles in the UK at the hands of Jon Kirkham in 2010 and Buildbase BMW Motorrad rider Richard Cooper last year, riding for the Buildbase team.

Brogan said: “I am really excited about riding for BMW Motorrad once again. We had a fantastic result in 2010 when we took the BSB-EVO title.

“I expect this year to be as tough as ever and I have been working hard to get back to full fitness since the crash last year, and physically and mentally I’m at the very top of my game and very excited to get out there and race.”

Mainwaring added: “This season is going to be fantastic. The BMW has absolutely dominated Superstock for two years and the Buildbase BMW Motorrad team have put together an incredible bike.

“Their experience and skills will give me a fantastic opportunity to take the title. And I’m looking forward to racing alongside Brogan. Obviously I’m younger and braver, so I’ll be the faster rider!”
