The MCE British Superbike championship has gone Forth to this weekend’s Knockhill races, taking to the iconic Forth Road Bridge for an once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity ahead of today’s commencement of hostilities at the Scottish track.

Traffic was halted at the Forth Road Bridge on Thursday morning as the show rolled into town with riders including Shane Byrne, JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison, Tyco BMW’s Tommy Bridewell, Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran and Bennetts Suzuki’s Christian Iddon all getting the opportunity to ride across the northbound lane of the bridge.

BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs told MCN afterwards that the opporunity to do something special at the series’ only Scottist race is too good to miss out on.

“MCE BSB visits Scotland just once a year, so to be able to take the Championship on the road, quite literally, and use such an iconic landmark to promote our event this weekend was a remarkable sight. It was also a great opportunity to raise awareness of motorcycles on the road in the media ahead of the event, with thousands of spectators due to be travelling to the circuit this weekend and most importantly for riders to be safe on the road.”
