Snetterton celebrates Ago with corner naming

Norfolk race circuit Snetterton has celebrated the career of Grand Prix legend Giacomo Agostini, officially naming one of the corners at the redesigned circuit in memory of the fifteen-time world champion.

In attendance himself during the ceremony during last weekend’s MCE British Superbike championship round, the Italian was also able to lap the circuit on one of the Tsingtao MV Agusta team’s superbike machines.

Speaking afterwards, circuit owner Jonathan Palmer commented: “I designed our new Snetterton 300 circuit to be fantastic for bikes as well as cars and as Giacomo has raced here on both two wheels and four I was absolutely delighted when he agreed to my suggestion of naming a important corner after him. Agostini corner provides a great deal of action as a key overtaking point at Snetterton and fans on Agostini bank can see it all!

“It is wonderful that Ago has now been able to visit and enable us to officially commemorate his corner and I’m thrilled that we have some super photos to record this special day. Most importantly I am delighted Giacomo really loves the radically revised Snetterton and was particularly praising of the high safety standards we have achieved.”
