Shane Byrne will debut a new exhaust on his Ducati Panigale R at this weekend’s Snetterton round of the MCE British Superbike championship.

The four-time British Champion has taken two victories since returning to the iconic Italian marque this season, taking Ducati to their first win since 2010. He currently lies second in the championship standings, 13 points behind rival Leon Haslam.

The fifth round of the season at Snetterton will see Byrne get his first round of upgrades for the Panigale, including a new WSB-style, rear-facing Termignoni exhaust – designed to be stronger than the bike’s existing system which has a tendency to break quite often.

“We have a few upgrades on the way,” Shakey’s crew chief, Giovanni Crupi, who actually works for Ducati Corse rather than the Be Wiser Ducati team, told MCN. “We should have had a new exhaust for Knockhill but it will now be ready for Snetterton. The main change with this is the layout, it is rear-facing like in World Superbikes and one of the main reasons for this is strength. We may also have some engine parts, but it is all small things, we just need to see what areas we can improve.”
