Christian Iddon returned to the top of the timesheets to lead the way in both wet and dry conditions on the opening day of the tenth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Donington Park.
While he missed out on a spot in the top six Showdown after a tough mid-season, Iddon made a dramatic return to the front today to lap well within the circuit lap record to top the tables in the day’s only dry session.
Luke Mossey was second fastest to lead the title fighting six on the opening day while ePayMe Yamaha’s John Hopkins turned heads to set the third fastest time of the day.
Shane Byrne, who highsided out of the morning’s wet session, was fourth ahead of fellow title rival Jason O’Halloran, who faced a tough opening day to the Showdown after crashing from his Fireblade three times in both wet and dry conditions.
Tommy Bridewell set the sixth quickest time ahead of series leader Leon Haslam, while Jakub Smrz, Glenn Irwin and Michael Laverty rounded out the top ten.
