BSB: Buchan crowned 2017 Superstock 1000 champion

Danny Buchan was crowned 2017 Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Champion after doing exactly what was needed in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch.

Heading into the race 15 points ahead of title rival Richard Cooper, Buchan was in a strong position and with Cooper doing all he could do by winning the race, the Morello Kawasaki star followed him home for second place to win the title by ten points after this year’s 12 rounds.

Buchan took 10 victories to Cooper’s nine to clinch his second Superstock crown, repeating his performance from back in 2014 when he took his first title with the then Tsingtao Kawasaki squad.

Chrissy Rouse finished third in the final race but was unable to steal third in the series standings behind Buchan and Cooper from veteran ace Michael Rutter.

Buchan now turns his attention to securing a return to the MCE British Superbike class for 2018 with it widely expected he could join the Quattro-Plant FS3 Kawasaki squad despite a challenging appearance with the squad last time out in Assen.
