5 wildcards for GP 125s

Five British wildcards have been granted entry into the 125 GP at July 24’s Donington Park British GP.

Racing bosses at the FIM usually only allow three wild cards per class but the UK’s ACU asked for special dispensation to allow in four extra riders. In the end they got permission for an extra two.

The news comes in a week when campaigners have been angered by the ACU’s decision not to enter ANY British 250 GP wildcards (see link, right). The upside of that may be the extra places for the rising stars of the 125 class.

The 125 ‘Wild Cards’ are:

Christian Elkin, aged 24 from Macclesfield, Cheshire

Rob Guiver, aged 20 from Rainham, Essex

Dan Linfoot, aged 17 from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

James Westmorland, aged 17 from Hull, East Yorkshire

Kev Coghlan, aged 17 from Nurthly, Perthshire

Elkin entered, qualified and finished the Grand Prix last year but the other four riders will be experiencing GP for the first time.
