Friday practice in Spain

Marco Melandri was fastest in second free practice for the Valencia season finale MotoGP, on Friday (Nov 4).

His time of 1.33.464 beat Carlos Checa’s FP1-topping time by a fraction. Checa clocked 1.33.837.

The top 10 fastest in FP2 were: Melandri, Checa, Gibernau, Hayden, Capirossi, Barros, Rossi, Biaggi, Tamada and Edwards.

The race itself is on Sunday. Expect updates from qualifying on Saturday.

FP1 report:

Checa completed a total of 30 laps in the session, recording a fastest time of 1:33.837, to put the Ducati Desmosedici at the top of the time sheets. Second fastest was Sete Gibernau with a time of 1:33.841 on the Movistar Honda machine, with team-mate Marco Melandri third with 1:33.884.

Valentino Rossi was seventh quickest in the opening session, and Britain’s James Ellison is looking to end the season on a high note with the 16th quickest time in the first session, heading Aoki, nakano, Roberts, Battaini, and Xaus.
