Suzuki sign Vermeulen

Suzuki has officially introduced Chris Vermeulen as part of the 2006 MotoGP squad at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham.

The Australian rider was at the show to announce his departure from World Superbikes and the Ten kate Honda squad. Although he has competed for Camel Honda as a wildcard in the last two GP rounds, he now cannot race in the final round at Valenica as it will be a conflict of interest with his new employer.

He’ll get to ride the new Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP machine in November alongside returning rider John Hopkins, who has already signed a two-year extension with the squad.

Also on the Suzuki stand was new 2005 World Superbike champion Troy Corser, celebrating his victory in the championship, British Superbike rider James Haydon, and road racers Ryan Farquhar and Bruce Anstey.
