Chaz’s dream fizzles out

Chaz Davies hopes of landing an Ilmor MotoGP ride have all-but gone after a planned test of the bike had to be aborted due to technical faults.

The team lost the first day of the test setting the all-new bike up, and after Andrew Pitt crashed one of the bikes, and technical glitches hit another, the squad were too concerned about maximising what little track time they have before the winter test ban to let Davies ride.

It was a bitter blow for the Welsh star, who had rushed to Jerez at short notice after the team invited him to test.

Davies will now fly out to America tomorrow for the first test with the Celtic Racing team he is due to ride for in 2007.
