Ellison makes switch to U.S. Superbikes

James Ellison began the process of rebuilding his career in AMA Superbikes when he rode a Corona Honda FireBlade this weekend.

The 26-year-old will use the bike to race in 2007 and made the most of the test session in Fontana.

Ellison clinched the deal last month after being dropped from the French-based Tech 3 squad at the end of a disastrous debut season on board a factory Yamaha YZR-M1, and said: “I’m gutted I had to leave GPs because I had so much more to show, but I was held back with the troublesome chassis and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t squeeze any more out of it. I know I’m a lot faster than I looked this year and I need to prove that.

“I’m expecting to enjoy riding again, I’m expecting to get some race craft back and dice with people again. I expect to be able to push myself further now I have nothing restricting me.”

Ellison will be on track next week at Daytona.
