Tommy Hayden falls

1 of 1

US Superbike star Tommy Hayden made a debut he’d probably like to forget on the Yoshimura Suzuki he will race next year, after a mammoth highside at the Sepang test in Malaysia.

The works Suzuki AMA team is sharing the track with the top MotoGP teams currently testing, including Hayden’s brother Nicky and his Repsol Honda squad.

Tommy was spat off the bike at the same turn which was under water yesterday – though the track is dry today – after saving a front end slide, only to have the rear come round and highside him a fraction later.

He was apparently out cold at the track, and had to be cut out of his leathers before being taken to a nearby hospital where he is due to be kept in for observation.

He is reported to have a small break in an ankle, and it is not know if he will continue to test alongside team-mate Mat Mladin.
