Smith is top Rookie

A teenager from Oxfordshire has won the Rookie of the Year title in this season’s World 125cc Grand Prix Championship.

Bradley Smith was awarded with the accolade at the Grand Prix awards ceremony in Valencia on Sunday evening after completing the final race of the season in 12th place.

The Repsol Honda rider’s highest finish in the 17 race calendar was an eighth at the Japanese round in Motegi. The school boy has learned a lot this season to progress to 19th in the championship and secure his Rookie title.

The 15-year-old has been riding for the MotoGP Academy since the beginning of the 2005 season.
