Burgess stays with Rossi

Valentino Rossi said there is no doubt that he will continue his formidable partnership with Aussie crew chief Jerry Burgess in the MotoGP world championship.
With Rossi announcing that he has extended his current Yamaha contract to run until the end of the 2008 campaign, the seven-times world champion, he said it is a foregone conclusion that Burgess will continue at his side.
The pair has won five premier class world championships together since teaming up at Honda back in 2000, and both are now plotting how to win back the world title for Yamaha after the painful last round defeat to Nicky Hayden in Valencia last October.
But Rossi said: “I haven’t spoken to him yet, but for sure if I stay, Jerry stays. When Jerry decides to relax, that’s when I’ll relax.” Burgess was also crew chief for Mick Doohan when the Aussie dominated the 500cc world championship in the ‘90s, winning five consecutive titles between 1994 and ’98 before injury forced him into retirement.
