Diet boosts Checa

Carlos Checa has revealed some of the extreme measures he’s taken to help him adapt to the new generation 800cc MotoGP machines in 2007.

The Spaniard underwent a rigorous and gruelling winter training schedule to shed crucial kilos that he believes will help him become more accustomed to less powerful Honda V4 he will ride for the LCR Honda squad.

He said: “I was 71kgs and now I’m 68. I considered the bike I tested in November and I knew I needed to be more aerodynamic to help stay more inside the bike so my physical preparation was all for this. Also we have less power. So this year I think I’ll need less strength and more agility. Basically I need to be thinner rather than muscled because of the dimensions of the bike.”
