Sachsenring MotoGP: James Toseland crashes in first session

British rider James Toseland escaped injury in a fast crash on just his third lap of this morning’s opening free practice at the Sachsenring.

Toseland crashed his Tech 3 Yamaha when he lost the front end of his YZR-M1 at the fast left-hand turn eight.

He walked away unhurt but the crash cost him crucial track time as he bids to learn the Germany circuit. The 27-year-old only ended the session with the 16th fastest time.

Only returning factory Suzuki rider Loris Capirossi was slower as Toseland clocked a best time of 1.24.486.

That was a massive 2.168s behind dominant Aussie Casey Stoner, who topped the timesheets under cloudy skies.
