MotoGP: John Hopkins to see UK specialist after Catalunya crash

John Hopkins will fly to England tomorrow (Tuesday) to see a back specialist after the toughest race of his career in Catalunya.

The American rode to a brave 10th place with a cracked vertabrea after his huge Friday practice crash, and he will see specialists this week in England to assess the injury prior to the British GP at Donington Park on June 22.

Speaking to MCN in his motorhome this morning at the Catalunya circuit, said: “I feel like crap and I’m in so much pain it feels like somebody is driving a steak knife into my back and twisting it.

“It was one of the toughest races, if not the toughest, of my career but I’m really feeling it this morning. I’m going to spend a week in England before Donington and I’ll go and see specialist to get another assessment on the injury.

“I’ve only seen the guys at the circuit here so I’ll get it checked out. My plan is to race in Donington because I need to be out there and that’s what I get paid to do. It won’t be easy but I’ll give it a go.”

Despite his injuries, Hopkins is still taking part in today’s post-race test session at the Spanish circuit.
