Donington Park MotoGP: Danny Webb leads Brit assault in 125cc free practice

Danny Webb finished this morning’s first 125GP free practice session as the top British rider, completing the session in eighth spot.

The Degraaf Aprilia rider consistently posted the fastest times of the three British regulars in the 125 class, setting the second fastest time with six minutes remaining.

But it was Andrea Iannone who landed the fastest time of the 45-minute morning session with a 1:38.705 in the dying seconds.

Iannone’s best was still over a full second shy of Alvaro Bauista’s lap record from 2006.

Scott Redding was the next of the Brits behind Webb, lapping with a best of 1:39.414 with three minutes remaining in the session that was just good enough to squeeze him into the top ten.

Bradley Smith did struggle however, clearly still feeling the after-affects of his massive Catalunya crash a fortnight ago. He could only muster-up the 21st fastest time of the session this morning.
