Hand injury still a concern for Bradley Smith

British 125GP rider Bradley Smith reckons the right hand injury he suffered only five days ago in a spectacular high-side crash in Mugello will still be a big hindrance in this weekend’s Catalunya 125GP.

Polaris World Aprilia rider Bradley Smith scored a courageous top five finish at the Mugello 125GP after he broke a bone in his left foot and damaged his right hand in a qualifying crash.

Bradley Smith’s hand is still severely swollen and he told MCN: “I’m not feeling too bad but not perfect. My hand is still quite swollen but my foot is not giving me any problems even though it is broken.

“It is not perfect and I can’t run on it but I can walk and get around.”

The hand remains his biggest concern, and the 17-year-old added: “You couldn’t see my knuckles before because the swelling was so bad, but now the definition is coming back.

“I’ve done some tendon damage in the hand and all I can do is keep moving it and icing it and hope it gets better as quick as possible.

“I’ve been icing it everyday and I had a bit of laser treatment while I was in Misano earlier this week. One session wasn’t going to do nothing major but it would help the hand on its way.”

Smith will have to ride this weekend in Catalunya with the hand heavily taped as he goes in search of a third podium finish of the season.
