MotoGP proves right up Indy’s street

Indianapolis is doing its best to whip up some interest in this weekend’s inaugural Indy MotoGP clash with special street signs erected at selected parts of the city.

The signs feature names and race numbers of some of the most celebrated faces in American racing history, including world champions Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Kenny Roberts, Kenny Roberts Junior, Freddie Spencer, Kevin Schwantz and Nicky Hayden.

The signs also honour the likes of Colin Edwards, John Hopkins and Ben Spies, who was snapped by his special sign yesterday.

Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi and reigning world champion Casey Stoner have also got their own signs in Indianapolis, which hosts its first ever MotoGP race on a new circuit built on the inside of its world famous oval course.
