Motegi MotoGP: No new parts for Dani Pedrosa in Japan

Dani Pedrosa has confirmed his factory Honda RC212V will not receive an early parts upgrade for this weekend’s Japanese MotoGP clash at the Twin Ring Motegi.

Honda’s V4 has struggled on the new Bridgestone tyres and the best RC212V in the season’s opening race in Qatar earlier this month was Pedrosa’s Repsol team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in fifth.

But Pedrosa said it was pointless for Honda to roll out new parts for him to try at the Twin Ring Motegi this weekend, a circuit that Honda built and still owns.

The Spaniard, who is still recovering from left knee and arm injuries he suffered during a pre-season testing crash in Qatar in early March, said: “There is nothing special.

“I was not on the pace in Qatar, so when you are not very fast on the lap time, it has no meaning to try new things, otherwise you will give the wrong feedback to the team.”

Pedrosa finished the opening race in 11th.
