Indy MotoGP: Scott Redding still hampered by ankle injury

British teenager Scott Redding fears his hopes of notching a first 125GP podium outside of the UK in Indianapolis this weekend could be ruined by a lingering right ankle injury.

The 16-year-old is still being hampered by the right ankle problem that he damaged in a spectacular practice high-side at the last round in the Czech Republic.

Redding, who has scored a win and a third place in the British GP at Donington Park, said: “I feel much better than in the last race but I am still not 100 per cent.

“I do not have all my strength yet and I still have some pain. I have only been able to work on my upper chest in the last few days and I could not run at all.

“In Brno I had to use my arms a lot as my ankle hurt and so I finished very tired.

“I’ve just got to see how I can cope with the pain and try and compensate as best I can.”
