Scott Redding searching for chassis confidence

British 125GP sensation Scott Redding has admitted he still needs to gain more confidence with Aprilia’s 2009 machine after he ended the opening day of testing in Jerez in 10th place.

Redding has found finding a comfortable chassis setting difficult on the new 2009 RSA machine and he was 1.7s slower than a dominant Julian Simon on yesterday’s opening day.

The Gloucestershire 16-year-old clocked a best time of 1.49.029s to finish just 0.1s adrift of Spanish team-mate Esteve Rabat.

“Things have not started badly, although there was a bit of wind I still got some good feelings.

“This is the first time that we have ridden here since last year because we did not come when others came a month ago. The bike is going better than the one I had last year, although the chassis is a bit different and it takes some getting used to.

“We are going to get better bit-by-bit, doing some good practice and setting good times. I just need to get more used to the bike, that is what I will do every time I get on it.”
