Danny Webb confident in new Aprilia potential

British teenager Danny Webb is confident he can tap into the potential of Aprilia’s new 2009 125GP bike after he ended the opening day of testing in Jerez languishing down in 19th place.

The DeGraaf Aprilia rider clocked a best time of 1.50.244 that was just shy of three seconds slower than the quickest pace set by Julian Simon.

Webb has found the transition to the RSA machine a tough one having endured a problematic debut test session in Estoril last week.

The Kent rider said: “It was an okay day but I’m not entirely satisfied yet. We still had a few problems in the morning. In the afternoon it started to get better and I felt I was getting back to my old self.

“We still need a lot more data to set-up the bike. I feel there is a lot of potential in the bike but we need to work to get the potential out of the bike by riding a lot of laps to get more data. I’m confident for the next two days.”
