With the 2009 MotoGP world championship already secured, Valentino Rossi has cast one eye on next week’s crucial test session when he will debut Yamaha’s prototype 2010 factory YZR-M1 machine.

Rossi will be back on track less than 24 hours after the final race in Valencia on Sunday testing a revised in-line four-cylinder motor and chassis on his YZR-M1, And the Italian said it would be crucial to get data on the new bike with no more testing until early February at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.

The 30-year-old said: “It will be an important test because now we don’t have a lot of days testing. We have to concentrate and we will try the first prototype for 2010 and it will be so interesting to see how the bike performs.

“We have to keep the concentration motivation for the test even though the season has finished because it is important with the next test not until February.”
