Indy MotoGP: Redding takes first Moto2 podium

1 of 1

Brit Scott Redding took his first podium in Moto2 after finishing third in the restarted race at Indianapolis.

The race was red-flagged before the end of the first lap when there were two multiple-bike pile ups on the second corner – which saw Gabor Talmacsi ride back to the pits without a fairing.

Redding broke away at the front with Toni Elias and Julian Simon at the restart and held third place from start to finish.

Despite suffering from illness, Elias sealed victory with a superb pass round the outside of Julian Simon going into the first corner. Simon finished second ahead of Redding.

Despite a poor qualifying time, injured Andrea Iannone finished fourth.

Starting from the very last place in 39th on the grid, Simone Corsi finished fifth – passing 20 riders on the first lap!
