Valentino Rossi expertise helping Scott Redding

Scott Redding’s hopes of success in the inaugural Moto2 world championship have been given another massive boost after it was confirmed Valentino Rossi’s Ohlins suspension technician will work with the British rider in 2010.

Mike Norton, who is Rossi’s factory Yamaha YZR-M1 suspension technician, will also oversee 17-year-old Redding having been signed by the Gloucestershire rider’s Marc VDS Racing squad.

It is the second major personnel boost for Redding since he joined the Belgian-based Marc VDS Racing squad, which is run by former factory Kawasaki MotoGP boss Michael Bartholemy.

Overseeing Redding’s Suter MMX bike as crew chief is Kiwi Pete Benson. He was crew chief to American Nicky Hayden when he won the 2006 MotoGP world championship and previously worked with Mick Doohan and Valentino Rossi at Repsol Honda.

Redding made his Marc VDS Racing debut last week in Catalunya and told MCN: “The team are unbelievable and so professional.

“I really enjoyed working with them and Pete and Mike’s experience are going to be a massive influence in helping me develop as a rider.”
