The new Belgian Moto2 team that will run Scott Redding in 2010 is confident the British teenager will be a big success in the inaugural 600cc four-stroke world championship.

The 17-year-old has penned a deal with the new Marc VDS Team for next season, which is a Belgian motorsport project featuring several four-wheel racing projects too.

Influential in agreeing a deal with Redding for the forthcoming campaign was Michael Bartholemy, former boss of Kawasaki’s factory MotoGP effort before it was disbanded at the start of 2009.

Bartholemy is a long-term admirer of record-breaker Redding, who is the youngest rider in history ever to win a Grand Prix following his British GP success as a 15-year-old in 2008.

Bartholemy, who is team manager of the new Marc VDS Team, said: “Scott is a very talented young rider who maybe didn’t have the machinery on which to show his true potential in 2009, but whom I have every confidence will have a major impact on the Moto2 World Championship in its inaugural season.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what both riders can do when we start testing with the Suter MMX machines in mid-February.”
