Alvaro Bautista happy with Suzuki move

When Alvaro Bautista signed a deal to join Suzuki’s struggling factory MotoGP squad, many questioned the wisdom of his choice.

Suzuki had its worst premier class campaign since 2004 last year and failed to score a single podium.

And the Spaniard had an offer to stay in Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez’s stable and gain promotion from the 250 class to a Ducati GP10.

But Bautista has impressed on board the GSV-R, finishing ninth in the second Sepang test and 12th in Qatar last week.

The former world 125GP champion told MCN: “When I took the decision to join Suzuki I was 100 per cent behind it.

“And now I’m more convinced with this decision because I can see that Suzuki is working very strong. They are a factory team and they can do what you want.

“This was the main reason to come here because I’m working directly with a factory.”
