Results to determine Loris Capirossi’s future decision

Suzuki boss Paul Denning reckons 2010 performances will determine whether Italian veteran Loris Capirossi opts to prolong his career.

Triple world champion Capirossi has already hinted that 2010 might not be his last in MotoGP as he prepares to embark on his 21st campaign in the world championship.

The 36-year-old will make a record 300th Grand Prix appearance when the new season gets underway in Qatar on April 11.

And factory Suzuki boss Denning told MCN: “Physically he’s an animal and mentally he’s so strong but it might be Ingrid (Capirossi’s wife) who decides whether he races on! But he is still absolutely excited by riding and I think he’s more likely to stop if he has a really strong season than if he has a weak season.

“He’s got such a high degree of pride that if he puts it on the box a few times this year he’ll probably feel more comfortable about stepping aside.”

Check out the April 7 issue of MCN for a free 32-page glossy preview of the 2010 MotoGP campaign, which includes an exclusive interview with Capirossi on his 300th appearance.
