At least one British rider will start his home race from the front row of the grid, with Bradley Ray regaining some of his early season form to qualify second for tomorrow and Sunday’s Red Bull Rookies races.

The series, aimed at getting youngsters into the sport, produces some incredibly exciting racing on identical KTM RC250 machines adopted from the KTM Moto3 bike.

Ray, who finished on the podium last year at Silverstone, has struggled in the past few rounds after a strong start to the season that saw him take a win at the opening round in Austin, Texas, at the Circuit of the Americas.

He starts tomorrow’s race bracketed by a Czech in the form of Karel Hanika, 0.3 ahead of the Kent racer, and a Spaniard, with Jorge Martin 0.4 back.

The other Brit in the class, Tarran MacKenzie, is in seventeenth, still recovering from a massive highside last weekend in the Motostar race at Cadwell Park.
