Career best qualifying for Miller

Jack Miller had the best qualifying performance of the year today with 16th on the grid and afterwards the Australian was pleased with his progress and how the bike felt more comfortable today than it has of late.

“I’m pretty happy with how everything went,” said Miller. “It’s the best grid position that we’ve had so far. I’m really with how the bike’s working. It’s probably the most comfortable I’ve been on the bike in a long time. The way the bike is I’m having fun again riding again. We put a new tyre on and it was just one of those laps. You’re pushing to see how fast you can go. We put the pedal down and definitely I think we’ll be able to back that up in the race tomorrow.”

Having had time away from the bike over the summer break Miller was excited about his prospects for the weekend and throughout practice and qualifying he has looked quick. The bike looks stable and he’s looked confident. Tomorrow’s race will be a long 27 laps with the tyres dropping their performance quite early, after two to three laps, but then staying consistent until the end of the race.

“I’m happy to be back and riding a bike, that’s for sure. We’ve changed the bike this weekend and every session we seem to be getting better and better. I think it’s more to do with that than the track. I like the track here and always have. I mean it’s definitely been a good weekend. We’ve been lacking a lot of front feeling the past couple of races so I’m really happy to be getting it back.”
