Kallio leading the way after day one

1 of 1

Mika Kallio was fastest in the afternoon Moto2 session with the Finn maintaining his usual form at the Sachsenring. Kallio, who finished second last year to Dominque Aegerther, outpaced the Swiss rider by a fraction of a second with the top five split by five one tenth of a second.

Sam Lowes was the last of those riders but the Brit was pleased with his day’s work despite a slow speed, cold tyre crash. Lowes tested a new chassis in the session but will race with the older version this weekend having felt a lack of feeling with the upgrade. Having set the pace in the morning Lowes feels confident of once again fighting at the front this weekend.

With Kallio, Aegerter, Folger and Cortese in front of him however he was still quicker than his title rivals with Zarco eighth and Rabat outside the top ten.
