Marquez tops hectic FP3

1 of 1

In a typically thrilling climax to FP3 Marc Marquez once again was the pacesetter at the Sachsenring but with Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi both within two tenths the fight for pole could be interesting this afternoon.

Yesterday most of the field said that they felt the softer tyre, available to Open and Factory Options class machines, didn’t offer as significant an advantage as expected. With Andrea Dovizioso almost half a second off the pace it’s clear that the win will be decided between the top three in this session. Bradley Smith had another strong performance to finish fifth but after almost high siding on what would have been his fastest lap Smith has plenty of pace in his pocket.

Cal Crutchlow crashed at the Omega curve but was able to salvage a top ten spot with a late lap. Scott Redding wasn’t so lucky with the Marc VDS rider joining Maverick Vinales in the opening qualifying session.
