Moto2 recap: Round 3 - Argentina

1 of 1

Johann Zarco took the second win of his Grand Prix career in Argentina after a dominant weekend that saw him cruise to victory ahead of the impressive rookie Alex Rins with Sam Lowes rounding out the top three.

Zarco set a pace mid-race that no one could match with Lowes, confident following his first win the previous weekend, admitting after the race that he struggled with grip at the end of the race. This meant that Zarco had a comfortable final third of the race with Lowes under pressure from Rins for the second half of the race.

Rins made his move with four laps to go and was able to open a 1.5s lead before the flag with Lowes cruising to a second Grand Prix podium.

“For most of the race I had a gap on my pitboard saying +0.1 or +0.2 and to be honest that was my pace, I couldn’t go faster, so I thought that if I let him past I might understand how he was riding,” said Lowes after the race. “If I did it on the last lap I wouldn’t have had a chance to fight back but once he came past I understood that he had more pace and more grip than me.”
