Winter testing offically draws to a close

The MotoGP paddock can now fully turn its attention towards next weekend’s season opening Qatar Grand Prix after the final day of testing was completed at the Losail International Circuit today.
The final day of testing belonged to Michelin with the French tyre manufacturer testing in Qatar with Michele Pirro and Hiroshi Aoyama on track for Ducati and Honda respectively. The heavy rain that caused yesterday’s final day of testing for regular riders to have been abandoned stayed away today but the damage was already done with the track exceptionally dirty today and offering very difficult conditions with which to evaluate tyres.
With only two riders to clean the track surface drastic action was needed and after two hours the track was opened for two cars to lap the track in a bid to clear the racing line. The effect of this at least allowed for Pirro and Aoyama to complete their programme for Michelin but it was far from ideal for the French company who had hoped to gain important insight into what they will need to prepare for when they return to the desert in 12 months time for the first race of their comeback season.
Today also marked the first time that Pirro was publicly on track with the GP15 with the Italian shaking down both GP15’s that were built for Iannone and Dovizioso over the weekend.
