Dovi leads the way as Marquez crashes

At the end of a typically informative  FP4 session Andrea Dovizioso set the fastest time to lead the way from Dani Pedrosa at Mugello. Pedrosa had set the pace for most of the session and looked set to top a session for the first time since last year’s Malaysian Grand Prix before “Desmo Dovi” set his time on his penultimate lap.

Jorge Lorenzo has been exceptionally consistent all weekend and was a solid third fastest ahead of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. The Spaniard had a small crash at the first corner after low-siding through San Donato. Yesterday Marquez said that he couldn’t ride as aggressively under braking any longer and for the crash it appeared that he was struggling to get the bike to stop once again and ran wide before losing the front. Having failed to make it through to QP2 automatically it has been a difficult day for Marquez.

Cal Crutchlow was sixth fastest with Bradley Smith rounding out the top ten.
