Ducati to test in Spain as they look for more grip

With Ducati having skipped the post Jerez test the Italian team will focus their attention on finding a better setup at Mugello next week ahead of the French Grand Prix.

Having had their least competitive showing of the year in Spain-Andrea Iannone finished sixth after racing with his electronics in rain mode and Dovizioso finished ninth having ran off the track with an engine braking issue-Ducati will regroup in Italy and look to come back stronger for the coming races.

“We have the test in Mugello, before the race in Le Mans, and I’m so happy about that,” said Dovizioso. “I hope to find good weather to work with the GP15, and I believe in Le Mans our bike will be competitive. The first point I believe will be the grip. The grip is something we have to improve to be faster, but especially to be consistent for all the race. Also today, when I was behind and I was fighting with different riders, I saw the first part of the traction area, our grip is not the best. We improved in a different part of the track, but the traction is something I believe we have to improve to fight for the podium and victory.”

Dovizioso would not confirm if Ducati had any new parts to test at Mugello with the Italian joking that, “In Ducati, you know everything some days before, not really too many days before the test… So sure, they are working really hard, and they try to bring everything, as much as they can to the test. So I believe there will be something more, but still is not fixed, so there is no reason to speak about that.”
