MotoGP: Marquez masterclass at moist Misano

1 of 1

Marc Marquez has delivered a masterclass win at a moist Misano circuit to leave the 2017 MotoGP season tighter than ever, after taking a stunning last lap victory over home favourite Danilo Petrucci and leaving himself tied on championship points with third place finisher Andrea Dovizioso.

Jorge Lorenzo was an early race leader, looking almost untouchable on the factory Ducati until a mistake jettisoned him from the race and allowing hard charging satellite compatriot Petrucci to take the lead – a position he held until Marquez’s last lap pass.

Maverick Viñales kept his championship hopes alive in fourth ahead of Ducati test rider Michele Pirro and rain man Jack Miller, the second Pramac Ducati of Scott Redding and Suzuki rider Alex Rins, while Jonas Folger and Bradley Smith rounded out the top ten, with the Brit taking his best KTM result.

However, fellow Brits Sam Lowes and Sam Lowes were both fallers, joining Abraham, Baz (twice), Barbera, Espargaró, Rabat, and Zarco in the gravel trap.
