Moto2: Lowes romps to incredible victory

1 of 1

Sam Lowes has romped to victory at Motorland Aragon – and potentially reignited his championship hopes in the process – taking the win by three seconds from the Marc VDS duo of Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli.

Pole man Lowes never looked under threat from anyone, clearing off to take a flag-to flag win. But it was all action behind him, with a last-lap lunge from Morbidelli not enough to take the win from his teammate, the former Moto3 champion’s first podium in the Moto2 class.

Thomas Luthi and Takaaki Nakagami rode lonely races to fourth and fifth, but sixth was a bigger battle, with championship rivals Alex Rins and Johann Zarco split by San Marino winner Lorenzo Baldassarri.

Simone Corsi and Jonas Folger rounded out the top ten, while former Moto3 world champion Danny Kent was last after being forced to pit.
