Lowes unable to stop Texan win for Rins

Sam Lowes has been unable to stop a Texan victory for Alex Rins, with a charge from the start not enough to shut down the lead to his Spanish title rival at the Circuit of the Americas.

Rins was able to capitalise on pole position and a clean start to make a break, leaving Lowes to tussle with the battle for third – and unable to close down the gap by the time he finally broke free.

However, the real battle of the race was behind the pair, as Johann Zarco, Dominique Aegerter, Jonas Folger, Simone Corsi and Takaai Nakagami traded the final podium spot, only finally breaking up when contact between Corsi and Nakagami left the Japanese rider on the deck.

Moto3 world champion Danny Kent finished off a race weekend to forget in the pits, retiring early in the race with a technical problem.
