Reigning Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco has topped the opening day of practice for his home round of the middleweight class, coming out 0.065 ahead of Thomas Luthi at the end of the first day of action at Le Mans.

MotoGP new boy Jonas Folger was third, with Lorenzo Baldassarri heading up the second row from Simone Corsi and Alex Rins, the only frontrunners not to improve from FP1 to FP2.

Nakagami, Morbidelli,  Schrotter and Simon rounded out the top ten,  just ahead of Moto3 world champion Danny Kent in 11th. Championship leader Sam Lowes was thirteenth, after struggling for feeling then going the wrong way with setup in the second outing of the day.
