MotoGP: Iannone out of home race after FP1 crash

1 of 1

Andrea Iannone is set to miss his home race this weekend in Misano after crashing out of the first session of the weekend at the Rimini circuit and damaging his back in the process.

Iannone fell at turn 13, and walked away from the crash. But after suffering pain after returning to the Ducati garage, he was taken to a local hospital for CT scans that revealed a micro-fracture to his T3 vertebra.

His crash came after running wide at the corner and touching the white line on the outside of the corner as he accelerated, causing him to tumble from his factory Ducati.

And while he’ll sit out this weekend in Misano, there’s also a risk that he’ll also miss the next round of the championship in Aragon in two weeks’ time. Suffering a similar injury to the one sustained by Jack Miller at the Red Bull Ring, the recovery time for him could be up to a month.
