Martin on Hydrex Hondas at Ulster GP

Relentless Suzuki team boss Philip Neil denied any truth in the rumours that Guy Martin would be racing Relentless Suzukis at this weekend’s Ulster Grand Prix.
He told MCN: I’ve just arrived at the circuit and Guy’s Hydrex Hondas are parked here in the paddock and I assume he’s riding them.

“I’ve heard the rumours (that he’s split with Hydrex) and while I’d obviously consider providing him with bikes if he asked, I’ve heard nothing from him. He’s never contacted me and I’d never, ever get involved with poaching a rider from another team. I have respect for Shaun not to do that to him.

“Obviously with Cameron not able to ride it would suit us to run another rider but I can honestly say there’s been no discussions regarding Guy.”

Martin has had a difficult season with Hydrex Honda – with a catalogue of technical issues and disappointing results – and team boss Shaun Muir admitted at Brands last weekend it was unlikely that their relationship would continue into 2010.
Martin asked to run his own set-up this year, outside the umbrella of the BSB and Muir conceded to his demands. The bikes have still been based at the team’s Guisborough workshop but Martin chose his own crew and has run independently of the team most of the season.

There was speculation that Martin and Muir met on Monday and had gone their separate ways but Muir denied the split has happened – yet.

However the speculation remains that Martin’s future with the Hydrex team is not long term and he will indeed join Relentless Suzuki for the 2010 season. But if that happens it opens even more discussion – who will he replace?
